I am a big brother now...

Hi all,

We have a new member in our family now.  I am a big brother.  My little sister was born on 15 September 2010.  For a while amma has been waddling like a penguin.  That evening, appa took me to the hospital and there she was, my little sister.  She even got me a present.  A set of brand new Buzz Light Year Shoes.  How cool is that?  I am thoroughly enjoying my new pair of shoes.  I even showed  it to all my friends.

She is too tiny.  First day, she was mostly asleep, awake for a little while to be fed and back to sleep.  I got to sit there for a little while and when sitting got boring,  came back home.  Next day was lot of fun.  I got a chance to take care of her for a while.  She slept on my lap until my lap hurt.  She was very calm and quiet all the time.  I am being told to be a protector and a big brother.  But I am so small.  How can I be a big brother?  You guys tell me.

I went Apple Picking

Hi everyone,

We went Apple picking to the historic "Dame Farm" near our home last weekend.  Apple picking is so much fun.  I get to choose the tree and then get on Appa's shoulders and pick the apples I want.  We started with a modest goal of 1 apple from each tree and soon discovered that we will need a tractor to take the apples home and resorted to 1 apple from each row. :-)

We picked macintosh, gala, red cortland, russet apples.  Asian pears and pears were not ready for us yet.  They would be in the next trip - early October!

The apples really tasted yummy.  After finishing off a gala and a red cortland in the orchard, I finished two more after dinner.  I will not be seeing the doctor for a while now….

Achoo!  aaaah... Guess I spoke too soon.

Lot of action in the next few weeks.

Yeoow ! Get well food does not taste good

Hi,

It is Flu season at our home.  First my nose was blocked, then Amma sounded funny for over three weeks and last weekend it was Appa's turn.  Amma prepared her trademark (Lemon Rasam) to help Appa regain his apetite.  Today, both Amma and Appa ate their salads and gave me rice and this Rasam along with okra.  Boy! that get well soon food tasted really sour and just like Caillou I exclaimed "Yeoow! it is too sour".  At the end of the bowl of my rice, the natural expression "I am glad my dinner is over" made both Amma and Appa have a nice long laugh....

Counting Numbers

Last week we were on our way to Leela Dodda's place and Appa stopped at outlet mall to pick up some things.  There were lots of shops and I started counting them.  Imagine the terrified look on Appa's face when I started saying "Uno, Dos, Tres, Cuatro, Cinco ..."  Yes, I can count till Diez (Ten) in Spanish.

Why - most feared weapon

Hi Folks,

I have found the new magic weapon to silence my parents.  You should see the fear in their face when I ask the question "Why" for any question.  Probably they are already afraid of the next "Why" in the series. One good thing is I get an answer for my "Why" question but it comes out very slowly and in a calculated fashion

More on this later,
See you,

An apple a day ...

... keeps the doctor away".  So goes the proverb.  But in our case, that will be a very costly proposition.  We brought an apple home on Saturday.  If you are wondering what sort of Apple, then here it is

The best part now is now I get my own Laptop.  The worst part is I see a blue screen with lots of letters on it every now and then when I watch my "Thomas and Friends episodes".  Can anyone please help me to remove this blue screen from my laptop?

ಅಪ್ಪನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದೆ "Appa, please get up".

My latest obsession

Hi all,

Chug Chug Chug . . . You might have guessed it already, yes it is trains. I can sit in front of the computer or TV and watch Thomas and His Friends for hours together. What I have also discovered is appa and amma are more generous during my nap times. What I do not understand is why they keep playing the same video over and over again at that time. If you have any ideas do leave comments. When we went to NJ, Gordon, Skarloie (2 of them) and Rosie got added to my collection of Thomas and Toby. Himanshu uncle - Thanks a lot.

I will be back with more train pictures and videos later.

See you later,

Back from India

Namaste,

A fitting greeting after spending about 5 weeks in India. This was the trip I was referring earlier and not the San Diego trip!. This time we flew in Luftansa airlines from Boston to Frankfurt. After keeping amma (mom) busy for over 7 hours of wait time in Frankfurt we got on the Bangalore flight. Bhavya maama, Anjali atte and Ammamma had come to airport to pick us up. The temperature was 65 or so, we were sweating while everyone in the airport was dressed in mufflers, shawls and sweaters. They just don't know what cold is!

I spent a couple of days in Bangalore, went to Mysore to see my cousins Sannidhi and Saanidhya. Had a blast with Bhavana doddamma and before I knew it, it was time for the trip to Mangalore. Urva Ajja and dodda where waiting and I was very happy to see all the toys and my other cousin Saatvik. I decided he would be my guide around Mangalore during all the events.

After a few days in Mangalore, we went to Udupi and saw the new house being constructed at Siri Ajja's place. Hoy!, playing in sand was the best pass time. Udupi was in full festive mood when we were there. I saw a few chariots, elephants and the god's procession. All exciting experiences. Also I saw a Yakshagana and had a chance to give High 5's to few characters.

Appa came during the last two weeks to get some testing done and participate in some functions. All in all, I could not believe we had spent almost 5 weeks outside the USA and before I knew it, it was time to pack up and come home. We came back and the the cold winter welcomed us. Bzzzz. it is cold....

Bundle up folks,
Saaranga
